PAPUA, Indonesia

TMCJ Director, Story Team in South Central Asia

Young Muslims throughout Indonesia are searching for hope, and TMCJ’s STORY team, trained in 2005, is bringing it to them through ongoing outreaches in open street meetings, malls, organized youth events and underground youth cells.

THE STORY team member Angky won first place in a recent rap competition for all of Papua with a rap about abstinence. Indonesian youth love breakdancing, so a Discipleship House is being planned for them, where they can be discipled spiritually as well as practice their dance routines.

Other youth are doing seminars about AIDS and abstinence in the local schools, and hosting a weekly radio talk show geared toward youth, who can call in with their problems. A sidewalk café/bakery was opened in one of the busiest shopping areas in the town of Abepura, with nightly entertainment on the street in the form of live music, dance and film.  It will be a place where young people can meet and mingle-where relationships can form and people can be invited to a Christian cell group.

Recent outreaches in Bali resulted in over 10,000 Muslim youth being witnessed to through The Story! These young, vibrant STORY team evangelists from Papua are also doing outreaches in Java, Bandung City and Jakarta.
